Awful documentation

GoDaddy has slipped to awful when handling code signing certificates. None of their support articles cover the ENTIRE process from order to install. Each article refers to another and none of them have been updated in the last 2 years. Their recommended solution is to install FireFox. All I want is a single cert, installing a new browser just to download the cert is unreasonable. I'll never do this again.

Probably the poorest customer support in human history. They do actually come back to you but it's always the same robotic copy/paste response.

The installation part was not as easy opening the certificate and pasting the information with another host.

I only gave a 3 because the same day I bought the SSL I got a flat tire. OK, but this isn't any dumber than faulting the cert because your scripts were not compatible with Apache Crypt and then being even more mad that DNS takes time to populate as GoDaddy has equal control over all 3 factors. I am still bitter that after buying a resale account my password would not work and I had to call in every time to get it functional and was treated like an idiot who couldn't remember his password by nearly everyone I talked to. It took 5 months to get a guy to listen to me and once he did... within 24 hours their tech support had a solution of using a rclogin.com to log in instead of the normal url... worked instantly and 0 probs in the 7 months since. But it should not have taken 5 months to get there.

Our WhoIS got screwed up by registrars and at the same time SSL cert was expired. So NS...was no help because their validation goes by WhoIS... Needed Cert ASAP ...went with GoDaddy.. literally within 50 minutes I got cert approved and installed on load balancer.. SSL Cert was much cheaper by 60%

it is a little difficult to install the ssl. i installed twice. the first ssl cert was easy enough, but then i forgot how to do it the second time. I called godaddy and they told me to use the online chat, and they helped me out very well. I had most everything set, except for one or two things and they knocked it out fast. Then they checked the ssl for me and made sure everything was set up properly. Good service and good customer service. They are a good company.

Driver Signing Certificate only SHA256 for Windows 8 (no SHA1 for Vista or Win7)
September 27, 2012 Permalink
Overall Rating:
Product: Code Signing Certificate

As of this date, GoDaddy cannot issue SHA1 cross certificates for driver signing. GoDaddy will only issue SHA256 certificates. Windows Vista and Windows 7 require SHA1. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh967734%28v=vs.85%29.aspx Signing a driver package with two signatures In some cases, you might want to sign a driver package with two different signatures. For example, suppose you want your driver to run on Windows 7 and Windows 8. Windows 8 supports signatures created with the SHA256 hashing algorithm, but Windows 7 does not. For Windows 7, you need a signature created with the SHA1 hashing algorithm. [Regarding their domain name registry service, I have domains that I either own or manage from GoDaddy. I also manage a few website SSL certificates from GoDaddy. They are fine for those two services once you figure out how to navigate their web management interface. 4/5 stars for those two services.]

WARNING! i usually i like godaddy phone support and most services. but they blew it on the ssl certificate thing. it was not easy to set up, it interfered with some script on my site and there were no setting to alleviate this. when i called them to get info about revoking the ssl they just said to "go ahead its easy, just press a button." so i did and NOW MY SITE IS DEAD FOR UP TO 3 DAYS WHILE IT RESOLVES. they cant do anything about it and wont escalate the issue for me so i have no site for 3 days now. (i hope it comes back! but i dont trust it now.) they could have warned me about this and should have but no-one did.

We use the GoDaddy Standard SLL certificate for our client area and we are very happy. We didn't need support as everything worked ok. If you use a coupon code you can get it for only $12.99 for the first year. Great deal ! Thanks.

I found their Standard SSL via a google search for $7.99 per year. I put a 5 year cert in the cart but the cart price was $292. What??? I called them, the guy told me "you can't get an SSL for that price". I told him what I found and he put me on hold and then when he came back on the website and the google searches all read $12.99 per year. He told me that I could not have seen that before. He called me a liar. I hate doing business with them. They *used* to be great but now they are just kinda dirty to deal with.
