GlobalSign SSL Certificate Reviews

I am still in the process of waiting for my code signing certificate to be delivered, but the support has been very friendly, they respond immediately and are ready to help.

I'd have rated them 5/5 instead of 4/5, and the only reason I haven't here is because we're still brand-new to GlobalSign's customer list. However, after years of exclusively using GoDaddy for SSL certificates, GlobalSign is already off to a far better start. Recently, we ordered an SSL certificate for a new domain that a client will be launching as a new service brand this spring. Because of the existence of the term 'credit' in the domain name, coupled with the fact that the site is not yet live, it was red-flagged by their systems as a potential phishing site --- completely understandable, but the first time I've actually been contacted to be informed that the material had to be manually investigated and approved. That gives me more confidence in other sites I see as being signed by their CA. However, I now expected it would be days in limbo while they took their time to eventually get around to us. Couldn't have been further from the truth: within minutes, I was in a fast-reply back-and-forth email dialog with Sarah K., an investigating vetting officer for GlobalSign. She concisely explained the process, what she would need from us and our clients, and what she would be doing in the meantime. Every response was received quickly, and while professional, had a tone of warmth and genuineness to it as well. I've always said that a cert is a cert, and they're all based upon the same standard. I don't much care who signs it, as long as it's widely-accepted by the major browsers. However, with GlobalSign, we're also getting service, and that's not based upon the same standard as the rest --- it's surprisingly in welcome excess of its peers.

Just a quick note to say that sometimes when you need help, the right person comes along and makes everything alright! Such was my experience with GlobalSign's Evan Wajda. He is a support specialist that took my case and resolved my issue. An issue which was my fault. I bought the wrong flavor of SSL cert. Evan figured it out, and walked me through everything. Just a great overall service experience. I am in my second year of doing business with GlobalSign and this was a great example of why we will be around for many more to come.

I got a VBA signing certificate and did not know how to install it. I had to click on the certificate but did not know. I did not know that I should put it in a personal certificate store. The technical support department does not answer the phone and sends me a message that the issue is closed. The chat people helped me in 2 minutes. The problem is not resolved because Excel still strips the signature from the document.

We started rolling out PersonalSign certs (for secure/signed sMIME mail) and also starting to experiment with Adobe document sign. Neither one of these is a simple task (both are fairly complex from the end-user point - drivers, email client integration, USB key fobs, etc) The folks at GlobalSign were a *major* asset in keeping my head from popping off. From the nice (reachable) people in vetting, to the sales people (who went out of their way to help with discounts) I can't say enough good things about GlobalSign. I've worked with *other* SSL and cert providers, and they have made me (to put it mildly) - sad. Not to rant - but one provider took 3 weeks and over 20 emails/faxes/DNA samples to *renew* an existing/valid SSL cert (from their company!) - could never talk to an actual human there. Not the case here. GlobalSign has real humans (that are actually nice, and appreciate the business) and are located in New Hamster - not offshore. If you need to get work done (and not spend hours jerking around with phone mail hell or 100's of emails) I recommend you give these folks a try....

After waiting a while to receive feedback after submitting a Support Case via e-mail, I opted to contact GlobalSign's Chat Support. Within 15 minutes, they fully researched the problem and gave me step by step instructions to resolving a problematic issued certificate (the error was on our end, not theirs.)
